Senior Environmental Specialist: Professional work performing and coordinating permit reviews and field inspections of air pollution sources such as asbestos and dry cleaners under Chapters 62-210 and 62-257, Florida Administrative Code, 40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M, and the Sarasota County Code. Investigates citizen concerns relating to air quality and pollution sources. Analyzes data collected and performs Code Enforcement duties.
Pay Range $47,600 to $55,000
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the biological or physical sciences, Environmental Engineering or a related field and 3 years’ experience of professional experience – OR – A Master’s degree may substitute for one year of professional experience – OR- Progressively responsible professional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college degree. A valid Driver’s License is required.
Asbestos contractor/supervisor certification; HAZWOPER Certification.
Job Based Competencies
Knowledge of Chapters 62-210 and 62-257, F.A.C. and 40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M. Prior professional experience with air pollution sources.
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work schedule may vary based upon public outreach events. Must be available to work pre and post storms.
